Common questions.
What does a thermal break do?
A thermal break separates the interior and exterior aluminum profiles with an insulating barrier. It helps limit heat transfer through the frame. The complete opening’s performance also depends on its glass, dimensions, configuration, and installation.
How do the two steel systems differ?
The Slimline Steel Collection emphasizes narrow steel profiles and a choice of grid and finish treatments. The Insulated Stainless Steel System adds an insulated frame approach for projects requiring stronger thermal performance. We can compare the specifications for your openings.
Can you match the windows and doors across a project?
We can coordinate frame colors, grid layouts, glazing, and hardware to create a consistent architectural direction. Available combinations depend on the selected systems.
What hardware and paint are used on the aluminum collection?
The aluminum collection uses premium German made handles, hinges, rollers, locks, and operating components for smooth, secure operation. Premium Netherlands AkzoNobel paint is designed to resist fading, weather exposure, and daily wear. Review the final hardware and coating specification for your selected system.
What warranty information is available?
Our aluminum collection has a 10 year manufacturer warranty. Our steel collection has lifetime frame material and craftsmanship coverage for the original owner and 5 year finish and glass seal coverage. Ask for the written warranty for the exact product, including its conditions and exclusions.
What are the steel finish options?
Signature Paint uses a durable primer and architectural topcoat for weather and wear protection. Aged Galvanized Finish combines zinc protection with a custom patina for an aged appearance. Architectural Metal Finish uses a zinc based coating and hand applied patina for texture and corrosion resistance. Compare physical finish samples before choosing.
Are the steel systems performance tested?
The manufacturer states that its window and door systems are independently performance tested and certified for energy related ratings. Ask for the documentation for your selected profile, glass, size, and configuration. Ratings and compliance must be checked for the actual project.
Can steel windows suit a restoration project?
Profiles, grids, finishes, and hardware can be adjusted to support the intended appearance, including the character of original steel windows. The insulated stainless steel option offers a similar slim frame appearance for projects that need stronger thermal performance.
